  • What’s considered “Pet:” ????

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what the term “Pet:” includes on these new augment pieces?
I personally thought it meant; a jug, a charmed mob, puppet, wyvern, avatar and NPC (not exactly sure if npc would fit though). Basically anything you call to your aid that’s not a playable character. Otherwise it would be more specific (such as…Wyvern: +10%hp on AF, or Avatar: +Acc/Eva/Atk on AF…etc).

The reason I ask is because a LS member recent got his Royal Redingote after a number if tries and put the Pet: Double Attack/Critical Hit 2% augment on it. Maybe not the best choice for smn, but then again Predator Claws double attacking or critical hitting would seem powerful. Anyways, reason for choosing aside, a couple days later he made a post how happy he was that he won, but thinking about redoing it for different augments. His reason…Avatars can’t double attack.

Is this true??? Is there a reason? Avatars are considered pets correct?

This got me thinking…can we consider charmed mobs falling in the ‘Pet:’ category? I can certainly understand being geared up and using call beast. That way stats would predetermined when calling. But local mobs? Since they spawn a certain lvl, can our gear actually change their stats and boost them?

I got the Mirke Wardecors for bst and added Pet Accuracy/Pet Attack. That along with my other gear pieces (Lion Tamer, Pallas’s Shield, Bst Bazubands, Herder’s Subligar) my pets do seem to perform better then some of the less fortunate bsts in our LS. Since I’m too much of a wuss to get a parser or anything, I’m not sure if I’m just convincing myself the gear works on charmed mobs…or if it really does work.

    Has anyone parsed these pieces?
Is the ‘avatar unable to double attack’ rumor true??
Is ‘Pet:’ only limited to jugs, puppets and wyverns?

Automatons, Wyverns, Avatars, Charmed beasts, and Jug pets. Not sure whether or not monsters under the effect of Maiden's Virelai are considered "pets", but I would tend to doubt it.

I would assume that anything whose name you can display using the <pet> token would be considered a pet.

His reasoning is kind of dumb, as players without the Double Attack and Triple Attack traits can gain it with gear.

2% DA and Crit rate suck compared to Attack and Accuracy +15 though.

        What?

        Since when?

(I'm pretty sure at least Fenrir has a native Double Attack)

He got the same gear I did.

I think that anything that prevents you from using Charm/Call Beast/Call Wyvern/summoning magic with the message "You already have a pet" is a pet. Which is all your list except NPCs (and I'm not sure about Virelai, but would suspect yes; any high level bards want to go BRD/BST or BRD/SMN and try it out?)

And as Armando points out, you don't have to have double attack to gain it (or an equivalent way of looking at it, everything has a 0% rate of DA unless it has a higher rate). That means that avatar double attacks would be pretty rare, the same as they are for non-WAR melees with only brutal earring or something like that, but if he wants it, why not.

            Okie dokie:

            75BRD/SMN goes outside.

            Summons Avatar.

Attempts to Virelai a sapling... Failure even though it's incredibly weak.

            Dismisses Avatar

Attempts to Virelai a sapling... Success (as if we expected any other result).

Attempts to summon Avatar... Failure (Sabaron already has a pet).

Typed <pet> and received response "Walking Sapling".

A Virelai pet is a pet.
